In the world of horse boarding, the boarder needs to be happy with their choosen stable, but more importantly, the stable owner also needs to be happy for everything to work.

In other words, if the boarder is not happy, they leave, leaving the stable with one less boarder.  But, if the stable owner is not happy they shut down, leaving the community with one less stable to choose from to board their horse.

So what, you say?  You’ll just board at another one?  Well, think about it, the less stables there are in your area, the more for board they can charge because of less competition.  Also, think about the chance that one more closes, then another and then another?  Soon, you will be out of options, period.

Understand that stables do not have to be a stable and the owners can close it down whenever they feel like it, just like any other business.  And if the money is not there to be made or the owners are continually getting guff from boarders that are never happy, they finally throw in the towel and close.

Stables can always get new boarders, but boarders cannot always get new stables.  It is a fact that most areas do not offer boarding stables at all.  It is a good rule of thumb to appreciate what you have.
